Free Post 10/3

Hi again! Today I wanted to tell you about a career fair that I went to last week! The career fair was very strongly recommended, and I am so glad that I went.

Basically the career gallery was hundreds of booths of recruiters from companies looking for business majors from MSU. They were offering internships, paid internships, and full-time positions! As a business major and a pledge in the Phi Chi Theta Business Fraternity, it was exactly the type of function that I needed to attend. It was an easy way to get my name out there, give the companies my resume, meet some recruiters and learn more about each of the companies.

Most (95%) of the recruiters were looking for juniors and seniors, but they were so impressed that I was there. They loved to see a freshman taking initiative and putting himself/herself out there. It's never too early to start networking and establishing relationships with recruiters.

It really showed me just how many jobs are looking for Supply Chain Management majors. It is such a growing field, and I was happy to see that. I learned how important it is to have a strong resume, with lots of extracurriculars, good grades, and plenty of experience. I will definitely go again next year and the year after that, in hopes of getting an internship junior year.

Overall, it was an unfamiliar environment, full of professionally dressed students and real-life recruiters, and it taught me that college is the time to start looking for jobs for the future. It's not high school anymore! I highly recommend that you attend a career gallery when available. It's a great resource, and we are lucky that MSU offers such great opportunities.
